    • Georgia Oldham notes: When first married lived in Rich Hill, Missouri a nd worked for Col Merchantile Co. Opened Oldham Shoe and Clothing C o. in Mulberry, Kansas in 1906. Moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1928. Sam uel and Mary are buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.

      Helen Quinn notes: Samuel Keeney Oldham was born in Sweet Springs, Missou ri. His youth was spend in Marshall, Missouri, where his father had a flo ur mill. He attended college in Arkansas, his family having moved to Eure ka Springs, Arkansas. In 1889 the family moved to rich Hill, Missouri a nd Sam was employed in the men's clothing department of the Cole Mercanti le Company.
      In 1893 Sam married Mary Mamie Sweeney of Kansas City, Missouri. The ir children loved to hear about the arrival of the newlyweds in Rich Hil l, Missouri where they too live. As the train from Kansas City neared Ri ch Hill friends of thefowns alo ng the way. When they got off the train more friends were on the platfo rm to greet them. Sam and Mamie got into the carriage that was to take th em to the hotel. Sam asked the driver why he was driving so slowly. Fr om the street ahead,, out came Sam's best friend driving Sam's horse wi th Sam's dog sitting on the seat beside him, followed by the town band. W hen the procession arrived at the hotel, the band lined up and the coup le had to walk between them into the hotel.
      The Oldhams made their home in Rich Hill until 1900, when they mov ed to Huntsville, Missouri. Sam managed stores in Huntsville and lat er in Scammon, Kansas. In 1906 he opened the Oldham Shoe and CLothing Cou nty, in Mulberry, Kansas.sy fu rnishings. In 1907 an addition was built and a full line of dry goods a nd ladies' ready to wear was added.
      The Oldhams moved to Mulberry. Sam was active in church and civic af fairs. For many years he served as a trustee and treasurer of the Methodi st Church. He was president of the Commercial Club for several years. Du ring the first Worey Gardens, w as active in selling War Bonds and furnished the Red Cross yarn and oth er materials at cost. Sam was friendly and had a great sense of humo r. He had a story for every occaision, often telling them in dialec t. He loved sports and had a great zest for living.
      In 1928 the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Sam died 10 Mar 193 8. Mamie passed away 2 March 1946. They are buried in Mount Moriah Cemet ery in Kansas City, Kansas.
