BAYLESS CHENAULT
The surprise marriage of Miss Elizabeth Bayless, of Lexington, to Mr. Anderson Chenault, of New York, formerly of this city, was near a midnight wedding. It was eleven oclock when the twin came to the home of his great uncle, magistrate Abner Oldham, and in the presence of five witnesses; Mrs. Abner Oldham, Miss Marie Chenault Oldham, John Bradley and Messrs Smith Oldham, of Richmond, and Embry Oldham, were made one. After congratulations Mr. Chenault andwife returnedto the bride's home and on Monday they came to the home of the groom's parents, Mr and Mrs. W. O. Chenault, of this county. Mr. Anderson Chenault has many warm friends here who extend congratulations to him and his most estimable and handsome wife. Mr. Chenault began business here as a telegraph operator andfrom here he went to New York where he was for a time confidential secretary of the Cotton King, Daniel J. Sully, and from this position ohewent with his uncle, S. F. B. Morse, the railroad magnate, as his private secretary which position he holds now. Mr. Chenault is a young man of great promise and the young woman to whom he has pledged his devotion will aid him in attaining to the goal of his ambition. Of her the Lexington Leader says:"She is a young woman of culture, charming personality and a favorite with all who know her." She is a daughter of Mr. K. B. Bayless and sister of L.C. and W. K. Bayless, the wholesale fruit dealers of Lexington, Ky. We join with the hose of friends in extending congratulations.
