- Max commited suicide one Saturday night. He was about 19. He had gone to a dance, and picked up his girl friend. But he got drunk and she wouldn't ride home with him on his horse. He got mad, and went to the ranch house, sat at the kitchen and with his 45 pistol, went bang.

My sister, Mary Beth, found Max on Roots web. Been chatting with another cousin we found named Christy Fillerup. Christy is a researcher at the Mormon Repository in Salt Lake City. Her relative is Charles Henry Oldham, brother of my Great Grandfather Louis William. Any way, Christy found death certificate for Max. He did indeed shoot himself in the head, as my Dad's story says. I will attach that certificate, and the Roots web page.
