    Notes 
    • Ralph Byron was born in Hancock County and attended school at Shiloh, Mays and Center School of all Center Township, Rush County and Indiana Central Business college in Indianapolis. After Ralph and Blanche were married in 1921, they went to housekeeping on the Oldham homestead. Ralph and Blanche were members of the Spiceland Methodist church.

      Ralph served on the township advisory board for twelve years for the Republican party. He helped to organize the Rush County Farm Bureau band, served as president and for many years as business manager of the band. He and his sons, kenneth and Maurice, played with the band until it was dissolved in the early 1950's. Ralph also played in the Center orchestra for many of the social events in the community, and commencements and baccalaureates within traveling distance. He was a charter member of the Mays Lions' Club.

      In the early 1900s, Ralph bred, raised, and broke buggy horses; later he shifted to draft horses and broke several championship pulling teams. He was engaged in general livestock farming which included registered and crossbred stock.

      Blanche was a graduate from Straughn High School, Henry County. She went to Central Business College in Richmond and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for a few years in Richmond before her marriage. Ralph and Blanche had three sons, all of them born on the Oldham homestead.......

      Ralph B. Oldham, 90, formerly of Knightstown, died early this morning. Born 19 Jul 1888, Hancock Co, son of Charles Rollin and Martha (Huddleston) Oldham. Married Blanche Lamberson 12 Oct 1921; she survives. Lived on same Rush County farm for 85 years. Member Spiceland United Methodist Church, Mays Lions Club, Rush Co Farm Bureau Co-op and band.

      Survivors include wife, three sons, Byron Oldham, Rushville, Kenneth Oldham, Rushville, Maurice Gene Oldham, Indianapolis. Two brothers and two sisters preceded in death.
