- Lorraine Deitrich Oldham, 70, of 1423 W. Main St., Valley View, passed away Tuesday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
She was born May 3, 1946, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Harry and Laura Troutman Deitrich.
She graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1964 and received degrees from West Chester University and Clarion College.
She first worked as a teacher at North Schuylkill School District and the balance of her career was at the Upper Dauphin School District. During her career she taught primarily English and German and had also taught Russian. Upon retiring from teaching, she was employed as the librarian at the Tri-Valley Public Library and retired at the end of 2015.
Lorraine was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, and was involved with the choir.
She was also a member of the Rotary, TOPS, the Red Hat Society and was active with the Friends of the Tri-Valley Library.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Oldham, in 2005; a brother, David Deitrich.
She is survived by three stepdaughters, C. Noelle Petrasic and her husband, Craig, Campbelltown, Laura Michelle Hercher and her husband, Joshua, Harrisburg, and Ilene Danielle Swartz and her husband, Doug Jr., Enola; four grandchildren, Sydney and Laura Petrasic, and Konrad and Jocelyn Hercher; sister-in-law, Hilda Deitrich; nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, with the Rev. Michael Klahr officiating. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., Valley View. There will also be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be made in St. Andrews Cemetery, Valley View. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.
