RE: will of James Oldham - 1754

When William Heydon's will was written in 1765, no mention of James Oldham or his son James Heydon. They must have both been deceased which would give us two James Oldham who died in the space of 11 years.

Now the problem is: I have seen James Oldham and Leah as late as 1787 on the net. Or is James Heydon the one who married Leah and he had left the area by the time William Heydon wrote his will?

Jan, I know we both work long and hard on these Oldhams, but it seems to me that if we can go from this James back to the original John.

So many of the given names are the same, but my GGGgrandfather Henry was named for someone in William Oldham's past. I have seen a James Oldham who married Winifred (Junefred) Haynie. There was a Henry Haynie. Do you have a clue who the Janey was who was married to a James Oldham? There was a James married to Ruth Hill and there was a Henry Hill. Just some thoughts, wouldn't it be great if we could take this on back to ? When was John Oldham first mentioned in Virginia? Mary Oldham - Geniology@aol.com

      Will written 04-Feb-1754, proved 06-May-1754.
      Note:
"Thomas Lovelace, the brother of John Lovelace (1737) , married Tabitha Oldham. Tabitha was the daughter of James Oldham (1722 -1754) and his first wife Tabitha Haydon, James married Leannah Brown after 1747. We do not know how old Lnd

It is possible that John Lovelace could have married James Oldhams widow Leannah. It is also possible that there could be 2 Leannah Brown's. One thing James will proves for sure is that Leannah was a name used in the Brown family." - De
