    Notes
    • William Oldham is believed to have been born about 1752[sic 1782] and lived in Sevier County, Tennessee until the early 1800s when he followed much of his family to Indiana. He married first, Anna White on 19 Jul 1804 in Sevier County, Tennessee. I believe Anna died after 21 Sep 1821 when her last child was born. He next married Naomi Morphew, 07 Jul 1822, in Union County, Indiana. The ceremony was performed by John Keeney, his brother, John Oldham's wife's brother.

William was a preacher at several early Indiana churches including the Primitive Baptist church which was started by his brother Stephen in Lyonsville, Fayette County, Indiana.

The Little Blue River Baptist Church northwest of Rays Crossing, Union Twp., Shelby County, Indiana was established in 1828. The first minister was Rev. William Oldham. The assumption is that this is the same William as the one earlier in Fayette County Church (New Bethel). William lived in Johnson County, Indiana in 1850.

Salem Baptist church near Rushville, Rush County, Indiana whose member dedicated a stained glass window to William and Sarah.

Several of William's children moved to the Mahaska County, Iowa area, where they became productive members of the community.

Wm. was killed in a stagecoach accident near Kirkville, Iowa, enroute to see his son Robert in Iowa. William is believed to be buried in Highland Cemetery, Eddyville, Iowa.

I need to review the files at the Johnson County Historical Society for information on William in Blue River Twp. in Johnson County, Indiana.

This quote from Arnett Anderson notes:
