New "Devil" Writes.
Oldham Paisley, who last summer was the offical "devil" of the News office, writes back this week from his Omaha home, as follows:
Omaha, Neb., March 10, '09.
Dear News:--
Will you please change my addressfrom Box 508, Salisbury, Mo., to 2711 Capitol Ave., Omaha, Neb.
I have started to schoo here. They have a $1,000,000 building, 70 teachers and 2500 pupils. I have been placed int he Sophomore class, studying Physics, English, Algebra and Geology. School starts at 9 in the morning and lets out a 2:10, with an intermission of 35 minutes for dinner.
We had a snowfall Monday of about 3 in. and it is melting now so Iguess we are in for a sloppy time.
Fairly and squarely, I think Jasper ought to have had that pennant, andfrom the way the News reads I guess you think so. I got a letter from one of the boys there (Jasper) and he said he supposed Carthage divided up with scorekeeper Blair.
Hope Jasper can beat K.C. if they play.

On Saturday, June 1, 1968, the 59th and final commencement exercises of O maha University were held in front of a crowd of 4,000 in the OU Fieldhous e. On July 1, 1968, the school was destined to join the University of Nebr aska system and beenversity of Nebraska at Omaha. Three keyno te speakers highlighted this historic occasion:
- Oldham Paisley, a 1916 OU graduate and editor of the Daily Republic an (Marion, Ill.), reflected on the history of OU as a private institution until 1931. He informed graduates that, during his years at O U, "Our enrollment was so smalleor practice, we virtually forced every boy in school to come out f or the team."
- Randall Owens, president of the OU Student Senate, outlined the ins titution's years as a municipal university from 1931 to 1968.
- Finally, OU President Kirk Naylor spoke on the future of the univer sity. Dr. Naylor assured the audience: "We intend to solidify our commitment to teaching and to research."

A Letter From Omaha.
Omaha, Neb., June 5, 1910.
EDITOR NEWS:
Under separate cover I am sending you a copy of the Omaha Bee for June 4. It contains a story of the "Grand Bouncers", written by myself. This club was organizedthe first of this school year with a membership of8 and it now has 40. We will not meeting during the summer but will open again when school starts next fall, we we closed the club with a hay ride and supper to which we took our young lady friends, there were about 70 on this ride. In the picture of the bunch at the table the person in front is O. P., but you can hardly make him out as I was too close to the flashlight.
Althought this letter is dated Monday Iam writing it on Sunday as I leave tomorrow for Harlan, Iowa. The high school cadets go down there and camp for the week. We get out of one week of school, but those that do not drill have to stay in school while we are there. The next week is commencement week.
The J. H. S. "Mirror" was a dandy from all respects and compares pretty well with the Omahaannual. Only the seniors get their pictures in the annual here, but there are 250 of them alone. I heard that the Nebraska University had received a copy of the Jasper "Mirror".
I had examinations all last week and made goodgrades in all; at least I think I did, as I will not get to see the grades on account of camp.
I got up at 3:30 one morning to see the comet, but it was hidden by a cloud but since we passed through its tail or did not pass through its tail (I don't know which) I have seen it a number of times. I am of the opinion that the one last January was better.
You former "devil" wishes you success in your contestand all your work and still remembers the place ofJasper.
Yours truly,
OLDHAM PAISLEY
The article spoken of above occupied a half-page in lastSunday's Omaha Bee, and contained severalillustrations including the photoof D. B. officers. Oldham's picture appears as the club's statistician. The article is esceedingly well written and much more than ordinarily readable.
