      Miscellaneous Items of Chowan Precinct, pg. 450
      William Jones and Isaac Williams were overseers for a road from the foot of a causeway which runs from the banks of the Chowan River to Sarum near a plantation where Robert Rogers used to live; namely beginning at Charles Russell’s, then straight to Langston’s, then to John Skinner’s, then to Christopher Butler’s, then to Andrew Hamblent’s, then to William Vinstent’s, then to Thomas Langstone’s, then to a place called Pilent’s Old Field on Meeleses Swamp, then to M. Hare’s mill, then to an old plantation where Simon Daniel used ot live, and then to Moses Odom JR’s, then to William Gatling’s, then to Edward Hare’s, then to Thomas Barn’s, then to a place called Caleb’s Dowry on Chowan River. (Court order issued 1747.)

      Moses Odom JR (ID I10112) in 1754:
      North Carolina Colonial Records show Moses Odom JR and John Odom (his brother) among the men commanded by Captain Charles King on November 25, 1754 in Chowan Precinct. [3]


      "Last Will and Testament" 23 May 1792
      The Will of Moses Odam of Northampton County, North Carolina

      Moses Odam was of sound mind but was of failing health (weak of body) when the will was written. He made the following bequests:
      Item - To his son Moses Odam he gave one Negro girl named Phillis and after the death of his wife Rachel Odam, he gave Moses his feather bed and associated furniture, one cow, and his wearing apparel except for his great coat and hat.

      Item - To his son Josiah Odam he gave the land and plantation of 100 acres on which Josiah was living, one feather bed, one chest, and one Negro girl named Grace.

      Item – To his son Jacob Odam he gave his (Moses’s) plantation of 100 acres on which he was living, a Negro girl named Tnikin, his cider casks, one hackle and one kettle. Moses specified that it was his will and desire that his wife and daughter Ruth Odam not be molested in his home and plantation as long as live together and live single.

      Item – To his daughter Ruth Odam he gave one Negro girl named Cate, one feather bed and furniture, one large trunk, and his pewter.

      Item – To his daughter Rachel Moore he gave one Negro girl named Chinna, one frame table, one chest, two ewes and lambs.

      Item – To his wife Rachel Odam he gave his old Negro wench named Doll. He expressed his desire that his wife Rachel Odam have the use of the remainder of his estate during her life.

      Item – To his granddaughter Sarah Odam he gave one Negro boy named Daniel.
      Item – To his sons Moses and Josiah Odam he gave one Negro girl named Doll to be divided evenly between them.

      Item – To his son Josiah Odam he gave his great coat, one hat, and one tar kiln.

      Moses (X) Odam signed the will on 14 May 1792 and appointed his sons Jacob and Josiah Odam his executors. The will was witnessed by Robert Smith and James (X) Odam.[10]
